Coronavirus Update 26th July 2020
Thanks again for supporting your little independent Pet Shop and shopping local. We really do appreciate it. Thank you also, for coming mask ready!
Our staff will continue to keep you safe, by:-
- sanitising all high touch areas regularly
- providing hand sanitiser for customer use
- wearing a mask if we are on the shop floor and not hidden behind our screen,
- limiting the number of customers we have in the shop to no more than 2
- requesting everyone wears a mask who comes into our shop
As our little city begins to reopen, it is vital we support all our local businesses. It is not an easy time for anyone. Thank you so much.
As from Sunday 2nd August we will try reopening from 11am-3pm. Hopefully this will prove as popular as it previously was.
We will be extending our Monday opening hours to 5pm as from the 3rd August.
Coronavirus Update 28th June 2020
We would like to thank each and every one of our wonderful customers, for the support you have given us over the past few challenging months. It’s lovely to be open again, and to have our 2 legged and 4 legged customers coming through our door. Shopping isn’t quite the same experience as pre lockdown, but together, we are all learning about a new ‘normal’.
It’s vital we support all our small independent retailers, especially in the current climate. Times are harder than ever and I thank you so much for shopping local.
Our new opening times will be
Tuesday – Saturday 9am-5pm.
Coronavirus Update 14th June 2020
I’d like to thank everyone for their support over the past few weeks. It’s very much appreciated.
It’s not an easy time for small businesses at the moment and I am sure we all wish things could be different. However, businesses must comply with government Coronavirus guidance – which is why we have certain measures in place. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Queuing is always going to be tricky in our country, in view of the weather, but feel free to ring the shop with an order which can made be ready for you to collect and hopefully save time.
My hours for the next 2 weeks will be
Sunday – Closed
Monday – Closed
Delivery days will be Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, for those who can’t get into the shop during our opening hours, or are still shielding.
(I’m hoping to extend hours/days early July, when hopefully town becomes a bit busier!)
Finally – GOOD LUCK to my fellow retailers, as more begin to open their doors this week.🤞🙌😘

Coronavirus Update 29th May 2020
I will be reopening on Tuesday 2nd June!
My hours to begin with, will be:-
Tuesday – Saturday 9am-2pm.
I will be closed on a Sunday and Monday.
As lockdown begins to ease, I will hopefully be able to extend these hours and introduce additional days. For anyone unable to come into the shop during my opening times, I will be providing a delivery service on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
As retailers must be compliant with the new Government guidelines before reopening to the public, the following are some of the measures we’ve put in place:-
1 person in the shop at a time, to comply with social distancing guidelines of 2m apart.
Additional cleaning of high touch areas
A protective Perspex screen to keep staff and customers safe from each other
Hand sanitiser available
Contactless payments encouraged and preferred
It will be a different shopping experience but I hope you will feel able to support me, in keeping us all as safe as possible.
Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you soon.
Updated 24th March 2020
Last night, Boris Johnson ordered the whole country to stay at home as he declared the fight “a national emergency”.
His words were “From this evening I must give the British people a very simple instruction – you must stay at home.
Because the critical thing we must do is stop the disease spreading between households. We will beat the coronavirus and we will beat it together. And therefore I urge you at this moment of national emergency to stay at home, protect our NHS and save lives.”
So, I have given the matter a great deal of thought and it hasn’t been easy. I have decided that it is my duty to discourage people from coming into town, and therefore, we will close our doors at 1pm today and we will be operating on a delivery basis only, for the foreseeable future.
I am happy to deliver throughout Ripon and it’s surrounding villages most days.
Please ring with your requirements on
01765 602242 (leave a message with your contact details and I’ll ring you back if there’s no reply)
Text me on 07921 841127
Send me a message via Facebook
Or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I will contact you, to confirm your items are in stock and when they will be delivered. I can take payment over the phone, and will leave goods in a safe place, to avoid contact.
As I will be working alone, please be patient! I’m taking matters very seriously and don’t want to put my wonderful staff at risk, so they will be safely furloughed at home.
Only time will tell whether this will have a long term detrimental impact on the shop I love, but I know right now, I am acting responsibly and putting lives before profit at this very distressing time.
Thank you for your support.
The Pet Shop Ripon – Coronavirus Update 23rd March
We are very aware of the severity of the current situation. As a retailer, we take the health and safety of our staff and customers very seriously. In this respect, we feel we must implement the following decisions in order for us to remain open safely and responsibly for as long as we can.
- Opening hours may be subject to change at very short notice. Please keep checking our website – email@example.com or our Facebook page for updates.
- Please respect social distancing practises and keep 6 feet away from other customers and staff, while in the store. This way we can follow government guidelines and help to keep ourselves and our community safe. If you’d prefer not to come into the shop, we are happy to serve you at the door. While we love to stand and chat, we feel this isn’t the time and place to do this right now and we would be very grateful if visits were as quick as possible. We are sorry to have to say this, but things are escalating fast.
- We offer free delivery to addresses in Ripon and surrounding villages. Goods can be paid for over the telephone, and will be left in a safe place of your choice. I will confirm the day on an individual basis.
We hope you can respect and support our decisions. We have given this a lot of thought and just want everyone to stay safe.
